from 286 reviewsI love this tool, it's compact, lightweight and sturdy. The profile allows me to add a foot even in a tight angle, a freedom that I've found harder in other tools that often have the foot cutter on a wide rib that makes it difficult to get into a tight spot on the wheel. I only use the curved cutout, I've tried the triangle side but that hard edge on the foot is hard to preserve all the way through multiple firings in a community studio, where fragile edges occasionally get dinged. I actually use the triangle edge to remove the clay build up from the edges of my Blue Bucket vat system tiles when i remove from the insert. Good tool for small hands or limited storage space.
I reach for this tool often. It is my go-to to add a little lift to the bottom of my spoon rests, the curved edge is perfect for adding that lift to the bottom of a small dish when it's on the wheel. I also appreciate the size of this tool, I have small hands and I don't like bulky tools.
Love it!!! Nice to keep things all in one place
Great tools. I have thrown away all my cheap temu tools now I have these
Sehr gute Verarbeitung, einwandfreie Qualität,top !!!
Great product. High quality. Great price! Highly recommended!
Did i initially gravitate to this because it looks like a velociraptor claw? MAYBE (yes, yes i did)! Is it also an excellent profile rib for anything round like bowls or the bottoms of mugs? Also YES! Definitely recommend, especially for bowls. I was also drawn in by using it for interestingly shaped mugs and I also use it for that (the concave side for the bottom, then flip it around to use the convex side for the top).
Been really happy with both sizes of this tool (as well as the relatedly shaped tooth tool)! Definitely recommend
Expertly crafted, fits comfortably in the hand, easy to use, I’m already planning my next reorder!! The medium bubble rib works amazingly! I’m obsessed. It’s the first profile tool I’ve worked with. I typically freehand all my work, but recently my business has been moving into wholesaling and I’m working to make my process as consistent and efficient as possible. Brett was great! He worked with me to ship my tool faster so I can meet my order deadline. The quality of the tool is beautiful.
I throw a lot of mugs andI’ve been looking for a tall tool for compressing the bottom. I even spoke to Brett about making a tool for me.This works lime a charm for compressing the floor of mugs. Another great tool from Stoic.
Having fun playing around with the tools, as soon as they came i ordered for a friend as well.
I purchased the Angled Profile rib recently. I frequently threw a similar shape freehand. but thought I'd give this a try since I was going to buy several other ribs. It is great! It's well made like all the Stoic tools and very comfortable to use. Remember to slow the wheel down quite a bit when using it! One of the residents at the studio suggested angling the tool toward myself a little to get less "bite" and to have a smoother operation - good tip!
The attached photo show pieces thrown with 1.25 lbs of Peppered Wheat clay. BTW, that's the Small Bubble Profile rib from Stoic in the background (also thrown with 1.25 lbs of Peppered Wheat). Also, remember to buy some wood butter from Stoic and apply it to your tools often!
Thanks for helping me -- your tools make me improve and be more consistent.

About Us
Stoic Clay Tools is just two of us, Brett and Rachel, working together in a small workshop in Upstate SC. When we made our first batch of tools in 2023 we realized how much we enjoyed designing and shaping pieces with the same attention to detail that potters bring to their own work. Since then we have come a long way, making thousands of ribs for hundreds of potters in the US and around the world. We are extremely grateful for every potter who chooses what we make to become part of their own process.
