I reach for this tool often. It is my go-to to add a little lift to the bottom of my spoon rests, the curved edge is perfect for adding that lift to the bottom of a small dish when it's on the wheel. I also appreciate the size of this tool, I have small hands and I don't like bulky tools.
This is such a beautiful tool to hold in your hand. The wood is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect weight.this is great for undercut, but also a nice straight edge for throwing off the hump.
The undercut tool works perfectly every time! Beautiful results, easier, and more efficient.
This is the shape/angle of rib I’ve been searching for, but it’s just not as sharp as other wood ribs I’ve purchased. The sanded edge stops and there’s a thick flat edge from where the rib is initially laser cut. This edge is too wide for my uses, especially at this scale on such a small rib. It causes clay boogers that need to be cleaned up later. I’m considering taking it to my belt sander to see if I can really hone it down but that detracts from the product significantly as I could’ve just made it myself at that point. I wish their sanded/routed edge came to a more narrow knife-like edge like other wood tools I use. It seems high quality, it’s just not functionally there for me.
Fantastic quality ribs. Am now a repeat customer
About Us
Stoic Clay Tools is just the two of us, Brett and Rachel, working together in a small workshop in Upstate SC. When we made our first batch of tools in 2023 we realized how much we enjoyed designing and shaping pieces with the same attention to detail that potters bring to their own work. Since then we have come a long way, making thousands of ribs for hundreds of potters in the US and around the world. We are extremely grateful for every potter who chooses what we make to become part of their own process.
